AMELIA BELL (Swing)

Amelia (she/her) is so excited to spend the summer splashing around Bikini Bottom! Originally from Houston, Amelia has been performing across Chicago since graduating from Northwestern University’s theatre program. Favorite Chicagoland Credits: The Crucible, Pride and Prejudice, Arcadia (Edge of the Woods), All Shook Up (Williams Street Rep), Snowgirls (Hell in a Handbag). Offstage Amelia is a teaching artist with Bubbles Academy. Love to Liam, my friends and and family, and the whole Spongebob/Kokandy Team!

FRANKIE LEO BENNETT (SpongeBob Squarepants)

Frankie (he/him/his) is honored to return to Kokandy Productions to finally take on the iconic undersea pineapple dweller. He was previously seen in Kokandy’s hit production of Head Over Heels as King Basilius. Connar is thrilled to be back in Bikini Bottom while making her Kokandy debut! Some recent favorite credits include Hold onto Your Butts! (Recent Cutbacks), I Promised Myself to Live Faster (Hell in a Handbag Productions), Dooby Dooby Moo (Lifeline Theatre), Grimm (Theatre Above the Law), The Pillowman, and Spongebob the Musical (Surging Films and Theatrics). TOMMY BULLINGTON (Eugene H. Krabs)

Tommy (he/him) is excited to be back onstage after a three year absence since… well, you know. Some favorite credits include A Man of No Importance (PrideArts) A Funny Thing Happened... ISABEL GARCÍA (Patrick Star)

Isabel (They/He) is a Chicago-based actor and musician thrilled to be working with Kokandy again this summer. They are relatively new to the Chicago theatre community after being recently seen in last season’s Sweeney Todd (Beggar/Lucy Barker) and Theo Ubique’s Threepenny Opera (ensemble). When not performing they love cooking, making music, and watching scary movies. Select St. Louis credits include: Be More Chill (Jenna Roland), Luchadora! ABBEY DEMOROW (Swing)

Abbey (she/her) is very excited to be working with Kokandy Productions for the first time! Graduated from Central Michigan University in 2021 with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Recent credits include Understudy in I Promised Myself to Live Faster with Hell in a Handbag Productions and RPG-13 Improv. MADDISON DENAULT (Ensemble)

Maddison (she/they) is a queer and gender fluid singer, actor, and musician based in Chicago. She is so happy to be back in the Chopin basement this summer working on The Spongebob Musical as “Ens./Electric Skate 1/Buster/U/S Pearl”. Maddison was recently seen as “Kathryn Merteuil” in Cruel Intentions: The 90’s Musical (Kokandy Productions), which earned them a Jeff Award Nomination for Best Actor in a Principal Role. Other credits include: New Faces Sing Broadway:1971, The Apple Tree “Barbara” (Porchlight Music Theatre), Sinister “Geimrhea” (Chicago Shakespeare), Candlewood Lake “Cindiii” (Pemberley Perry), The Memory Place “Gospel Vocalist” (Pivot Arts), Rocky Horror Picture Party “Columbia” (Haven Theatre). Maddison was a founding team member of and often performs with charity organization The Beautiful City Project. SYDNEY GENCO (Ensemble)

Sydney is so thrilled to be onstage acting for the first time with Kokandy, after makeup designing this past fall’s production of Sweeny Todd (oh hey, she did the makeup design for this show too!) Sydney is an ensemble member, Company Manager, and Company Makeup Designer, for Hell in a Handbag Productions, where she has performed and designed for the past 11 years. She’s a graduate of The Chicago College of Performing Arts with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance. Past favorites with HIAH include SNOWGIRLS (Ice Crystal), THE ARTIFICIAL JUNGLE (Roxanne) and many more. Other past favorites include HOIST (Skyler) and THE EIGHT: REINDEER MONOLOGUES (Vixen), both with The Foundlings Theatre, and THE ODD COUPLE: THE FEMALE VERSION (Olive Madison) with Oil Lamp Theater. PARKER GUIDRY (Sheldon J. Plankton)

Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Parker (they/them/theirs) is a genderfluid actor and performer based in Chicago. Onstage credits include Head Over Heels (Kokandy Productions), Once Upon a Mattress (Theo Ubique), Camelot (Music Theater Works), If/Then (Brown Paper Box Co.), and The Fly Honey Show. On screen, they can be seen in Work in Progress (Showtime), Christmas Again!? (Disney+), and Empire (Fox). Fia is so excited to perform in her first professional production here in Chicago with Kokandy Productions! Amy (she/her) is honored and thrilled to be making her Kokandy debut! As a recent graduate of the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, her favorite credits there include Much Ado About Nothing (Hero), The Pajama Game (Brenda), and Bob: A Life in Five Acts (Helen/Ensemble). She is passionate about making space for marginalized voices and hopes to uplift those stories throughout her theatre career. JENNIFER LEDESMA (Pearl Krabs)

Jennifer (she/her) is so grateful to be back at Kokandy Productions, after making her debut in Grand Hotel! A California native, she is a Mexican-American actor, singer, dancer, and musician currently based in Chicago. Her favorite theatre credits include: American Mariachi (TheatreSquared), Shrek (Drury Lane Theatre), West Side Story (Morris Performing Arts Center), the Chicago premiere of Bright Star (Boho Theatre), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Music Theatre Works), and Hello Again (Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre). ELE MATELAN (Foley Artist Fish)

Ele (She/Her) has designed, choreographed, and performed Foley for nearly 100 live theatrical productions ranging from London, UK to Livonia, Michigan, and for companies such as A Red Orchid Theatre, Lifeline Theatre, Oak Park Festival Theatre, and Locked Into Vacancy Entertainment. She served as resident Foley designer for WildClaw Theatre’s Deathscribe from 2014 to 2021. She is an Artistic Associate with Prop Thtr and was a company member of The House Theatre of Chicago. Ele has guest lectured and led workshops on stage Foley at schools including Northwestern University, Harvard University, DePaul University, and Purdue University. She is a featured Foley artist in the newly-released third edition of the definitive textbook on Foley, The Foley Grail, by Vanessa Theme Ament. Ele’s voice acting can be heard on Hartlife NFP’s audio dramas ‘Our Fair City’ and all 5 seasons of the BBC Best Online Audio Drama winning ‘Unwell.’

JUSTIN GREY MCPIKE (Swing)

Justin (they/them) is a Non-Binary performer and a recent graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance. They are so excited to make their professional debut with this fun, flirty world and fantastic cast and team! Some past on-campus credits include: A Man of No Importance(“Ensemble/Baldy u/s), Allegro(“Ensemble”), and Roll With It: A New Musical(“Theo”). Justin is also a Burlesque Performer at The Annoyance Theatre. They want to thank their mother, and partner for always believing in them!

NICKY MENDELSOHN (Ensemble)

Nicky (he/him) is thrilled to be making his Kokandy debut with Spongebob! Nicky is an ensemble member with Hell in a Handbag where he has worked on Poseidon, The Drag Seed, Christmas Dearest, Frankenstreisand, and A Fine Feathered Murder. Other Chicago credits include The Wild Party (Blank Theatre Company- Jeff nomination best ensemble), Freaky Friday (Williams Street Rep), Annie (Citadel Theatre), Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding (Chicago Theatre Works), Flies! The Musical!, and It’s Only a Play (Pride Films and Plays). Nicky is also a cabaret writer/performer who has been seen in his solo show Be My Friend?!? Nicky holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Michigan University.

KENNY MILLER (Swing)

Kenny is so excited to be making his Kokandy debut in SpongeBob The Musical. Performance credits include Jeff (House Musical), Ensemble (She Loves Me), Lurch (The Addams Family), Gilbert/Ensemble (Hairspray), Curtis Jackson (Sister Act), Avery (The Flick). SARAH PATIN (Sandy Cheeks)

Sarah (they/them) is a Chicago based actor. They are so excited to be making their Kokandy debut! They have been seen on stage with Theo Ubique, Music Theatre Works,  Strawdog Theatre, Pegasus Theatre, Emerald City Theatre, Redtwist Theatre, Prop Theatre, The Comrades, Interrobang and they are a former company member of The Runaways Lab Theatre. Pre-pandemic they wrote and performed in her first one-person show “Those of European Descent”  that premiered at the 30th Annual Rhinofest, and they are a teaching artist with Chicago Children’s Theatre. They are proudly represented by Big Mouth Talent.

NATAKI RENNIE (Ensemble)

Nataki is so stoked to be spending her summer in Bikini Bottom. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Nataki is a graduate of the musical theatre dance concentration program at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Recent theatre credits include Once on This Island and A Christmas Story at the Encore Musical Theatre Company in Dexter, Michigan. In her free time she enjoys thrift shopping, creative writing, and laughing with loved ones. Nataki would like to thank all of her family, friends, and teachers for their endless love and support. Quinn is delighted to live the Bikini Bottom dream with his friends at Kokandy Productions this summer! Quinn was last seen spreading Christmas cheer in “Plaid Tidings” at Timber Lake Playhouse and sowing terror in Kokandy’s “Sweeney Todd” last fall. When not on stage, Quinn can be found walking dogs with the Chicago Pet Parade, or writing musicals with his best friend and writing partner Kelan M. Smith. JD CAUDILL (Director)

JD (they/them) is a queer director, artistic director, literary manager and music director, whose recent direction includes I Promised Myself to Live Faster (Hell in a Handbag), After the Blast (Broken Nose Theatre), Southern Comfort (Pride Films and Plays), Bechdel Fests 4-6 + 8 (Broken Nose Theatre), Book of Shadows (Broken Nose Theatre), and other plays at The New Colony, Haven Theatre, The Runaways Lab Theatre, New American Folk Theatre, Hobo Junction, 20% Theatre, Paragon Theatre, Otherworld Theatre, Arc Theatre, 16th Street Theatre, Stage Left, The Syndicates and Red Theatre. They are interim artistic director of Broken Nose Theatre, where they’ve served as a literary manager and ensemble member for the past 5 years, and a proud ensemble member of Hell in a Handbag of seven years. As a director, their mission more than ever is to create queer art for everyone, for they want queer audiences to see themselves onstage more authentically than ever before, and to help non-queer audiences build empathy and understanding for our community.

LOLLY EXTRACT (Puppetry Designer)

Lolly Extract of Jabberwocky Marionettes 2023 JEFF Award Recipient – Artistic Speciality, Puppet Design, After the Blast, The Broken Nose Theatre, Lolly Extract of Jabberwocky Marionettes has been hand-crafting and performing puppetry for over forty years. A multi-generational collaboration with Amber Marsh, Jabberwocky has designed and produced live animated spectacles for some of Chicago’s top venues including the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, Navy Pier, The Odd Machine, The International Puppet Festival, the Chicago Park District NOITP, Arts In The Dark, LUMA8 Halloween parade, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Seussical The Musical, Children’s Theatre of Elgin, Into The Woods and A Red Orchid Theatre, Malignant Ampersands. Some of Jabberwocky’s work with Hell in a Handbag Productions include, Haywire, The Birds, Scarrie The Musical, Caged Dames, Christmas Dearest, I Promised To Live Faster and Jeff Nominated Puppet Design for A Fine Feathered Murder. LYNSY FOLCKOMER (Sound Engineer)

Lynsy (she/her/hers) is a Chicago-based actor and sound artist from Brevard, North Carolina. She is a resident ensemble member of the Jones Classical Theatre and has engineered several shows in the Chicagoland area, most recently Ernest Shackleton Loves Me with Porchlight Music Theatre and Tick, Tick… Boom! with Boho Theatre. This is her second season engineering for Kokandy and she is so happy to be back in Bikini Bottom this summer!

STEVE LABEDZ (Projection Designer)

Steve is a sound and projection designer based out of Chicago. Recent works include My Heavenly Favourite with Internationaal Theater Amsterdam, adapted and directed by Ivo van Hove, and Into the Metaverse at Boom Chicago. Steve is excited to design their first show with Kokandy and hopes that you enjoy this lovely silly thing we made for you.

ELE MATELAN (Foley Designer)

Ele (she/her) has designed, choreographed, and performed Foley for nearly 100 live theatrical productions ranging from London, UK to Livonia, Michigan, and for companies such as A Red Orchid Theatre, Lifeline Theatre, Oak Park Festival Theatre, and Locked Into Vacancy Entertainment. She served as resident Foley designer for WildClaw Theatre’s Deathscribe from 2014 to 2021. She is an Artistic Associate with Prop Thtr and was a company member of The House Theatre of Chicago. Ele has guest lectured and led workshops on stage Foley at schools including Northwestern University, Harvard University, DePaul University, and Purdue University. She is a featured Foley artist in the newly-released third edition of the definitive textbook on Foley, The Foley Grail, by Vanessa Theme Ament. Ele’s voice acting can be heard on Hartlife NFP’s audio dramas ‘Our Fair City’ and all 5 seasons of the BBC Best Online Audio Drama winning ‘Unwell.’

After over a decade in Chicago, Max (he/him) has created over 250 designs on over 150 professional & educational productions. He is the Resident Lighting Designer for the Theatre Conservatory at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts, and was an instructor at Northeastern Illinois University for 7 years, receiving an Instructor Excellence Award in 2019. One of the founding members of Another Door Theatre Project, Max worked for 3 years as Head of Production/Resident Scenographer. He also spent 2 summers designing lighting for La Musica Lirica, a touring opera company in Novafeltria, Italy. He has received a Lou Award for Best Lighting on Into the Woods (Big Noise), has 1 Equity, & 5 Non-Equity Jeff nominations. Max designed set & lights on the 2023 Non-Equity Jeff Award winner for Best Musical, Kokandy’s Sweeney Todd; as well as light & projections on the 2019 Non-Equity Jeff Award winner for Best Musical, BoHo’s Big Fish. BRIAN MCCAFFREY (Music Director)

Brian (he/him) is thrilled to be joining Kokandy in bringing Bikini Bottom to Chicago this summer! Previous projects have included Passing Strange and New Faces (Porchlight Music Theatre), Jack Off The Beanstalk and Christmas Karol (PrideArts), Guys and Dolls, Parade, The Full Monty, Something Rotten and Spring Awakening (Theatre Nebula) and The Addams Family (Williams Street Reparatory).

PATRICK MCGUIRE (Properties Designer)

Patrick (he/they/any) Properties Designer Educator, Director, Artist, Musician. Recent credits include: Sister Act, Cabaret, A Christmas Carol (Metropolis PAC), Junior Claus, The Christians (Citadel Theatre). Other design credits include: Nevermore… (puppetry/props), Shrek (puppetry), Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey 2 design/construction), Marie Antoinette (costumes/props), Elephant’s Graveyard (costumes). Patrick has done freelance work for companies including, Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, and Gallaudet University, as well as countless design/fabrication commissions in puppetry, historical millinery, props, and costume crafts via his label The Befuddled Haberdasher. MANUEL ORTIZ (Technical Director)

Manuel (he/him/his) is thrilled to be joining KoKandy Productions! He is a Chicago native deeply engaged and devoted to the theater industry. Holding a BFA in Acting from DePaul University, he has cultivated his skills as an actor, carpenter, designer, and educator. Currently, Manny’s role as the Technical Director for Broadway in Chicago’s Cabaret Zazou. Grounded in a commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and equity, he consistently contributes to the thriving theater scene while fostering artistic communities.

CORBIN PAULINO (Stage Manager)

Corbin’s excitement for being a part of his first Kokandy show has gone into MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!!! Previously he has worked with The Twenty Sided Tavern, on Isaac’s Eye (Redtwist Theatre), TRU: A New Musical (Stage 773), and multiple shows with Haven Theatre as their past Resident Stage Manager. All the love and sunny vibes to the rest of my cast and team, and a special shout-out to his SpongeBob super fan wife for all of the love and support and whom he could only describe as platitudinous.

NICHOLAS REINHART (Production Manager)

Nicholas (he, him) returns to Kokandy Productions after serving as the Production Manager for Hundred Days and Head Over Heels. Other Chicago credits include: Godspell, Once Upon a Mattress, 8-TRACK, Songs for a New World (Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre); Get Out Alive, Titus Andronicus (Haven); PROXY (Underscore Theatre Company); The Mystery of Custodia, The Moment, Miley Chase: The Science Ace (CPA Theatricals), The View UpStairs, Venus in Fur, 35MM: A Musical Exhibition (Circle Theatre Chicago). He currently serves as the Productions Manager at The Den Theatre in Wicker Park. Nicholas was previously named as one of Windy City Times’ 30 Under 30, honoring the best and brightest individuals in Chicago’s LGBTQIA+ youth community.

KEITH RYAN (Wig Design)

Keith is the Wig Designer for the Fabulous, and is so happy to be designing The SpongeBob Musical! Keith is a 2020 Jeff Award winner for Artistic Specialization,Wig Deseign, for Hedwig and The Angry Inch. JENNA SCHOPPE (Choreographer)

Jenna makes her Kokandy debut, and couldn’t be prouder to be choreographing SpongeBob. Previous choreography credits include: The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Godspell, Once Upon a Mattress, and The Threepenny Opera (Theo Ubique). QUINN SIMMONS (Assistant Choreographer)

Quinn is making their Kokandy debut in this production of The SpongeBob Musical. Other recent credits include You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Marriott), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Trans Voices Cabaret, and Godspell (Theo Ubique), Bobo the Bully (Black Ensemble), New Faces Sing Broadway 1971 (Porchlight), King John and Head Over Heels (CCPA). Quinn is a multidisciplinary Filipino-American performance artist, and a graduate of Chicago College of Performing Arts’ BFA Musical Theatre program. Huge thanks to my family, always.
